Just read a study that shocked me. Researchers left people alone in a room for 15 minutes with nothing but a button that would give them a painful electric shock. The result: 67% of men and 25% of women chose to shock themselves rather than just sit there with their thoughts. Physical pain over mental boredom. How wild is that? I've been guilty of this too. (Not literally) - I’ve filled silent moments with noise - I’ve doomscrolled Twitter when I could be present - I’ve checked my phone even when I knew the news would make us angry What are we so afraid of finding if we just sat with our thoughts?
