The idea of sacrifice has been something ive been wrestling with and ive come to the conclusion that its not about sacrifice its about the ultimate long term selfishness Sacrifice assumes you are losing something with no benefit This idea comes from Christ - that he sacrificed himself by dying on the cross However its dawned on me that Christ knowing he would go to heaven which is better than earth cannot symbolise sacrifice instead to me it represents living in ultimate truth - the ultimate long term good Its like the "put your mask on before you help others" on a plane idea So do whats best for you in the longest term horizon you can imagine and that will look no different to the idea of sacrificing yourself for others One mans right is another mans responsibility - in living your ultimate long term good you are also preserving the ultimate good for others But have to be careful not to confuse this idea with being selfish - which is relational to just whats good for you now
