One of the things I really hated about working for software companies was my threat model basically 1000xing. Immediately, I go from basically a nobody to someone who has access to A Lot Of systems (albiet very controlled with a lot of fail safes but everything is hackable)

I've worked on login systems for most of my career; and while the design of said systems made it (theoretically) impossible to exploit through the Threatening Me Personally with a Wrench Vulnerability, it still made it 1000x more likely to happen. I am paranoid about security

Every time I'm a free agent, and start having nothing really to lose, or for an attacker to gain, it is honestly a huge load off Now, if I worked on something truly demonic, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Because I know how easy it is

as in, as more people *expose* what *actually* happens, through some quick netflix documentary cash grab or other viral event - if I worked on youtube shorts, people would ACTUALLY figure out how I was AND I WOULD BE FUCKING TERRIFIED

do you understand? surely you understand. you know what you're doing, you are very smart. working on large recommendation systems is not easy. you haven't thought about the threat model? are you retarded?

it's actually so mind boggling to me that people will directly work on these sorts of things, especially knowing how much optionality they have. you could literally do anything else man you work for GOOGLE

like surely the risk reward tradeoff isn't worth the pitiful salary
