The biggest issue from a political setup perspective in western world is that outside of US - ie England,Canada, Australia etc is that they are based on parliamentary systems rather than the Presidential system The reason its cooked is because when things are fine its fine but you arent able to vote for and make a radical change when needed - you only vote for your local member and those members decide which member runs for prime minister This makes it so that only someone who has been around a while with a safe seat gets picked and the whole bench is career politicians with no term limits In the US you can make changes and when a President is elected they can bring in talent as they see fit The rest of the countries are stuck in just a gradual shift left where the right keeps getting more left - the way that in US the university system is left. Its a structural quagmire While the US in general is shifting left there is opportunities for readjustment in much bigger ways as Trump has done - in the other countries people get the sense they are voting for the bureaucracy either way
