Since WSOA is winding down soon (probably have a week of post-event marketing left), figured i'd give y'all a look behind the scenes about what goes into something like this: We first announced it in late May, but were coordinating it a while before then. The idea has actually existed for a while — we just waited for the right opportunity. Thinking about the work that goes into it (if y’all even care): Per partner: 🟢 Intro 🟢 Vet/pitch 🟢 Terms 🟢 Asset delivery 🟢 Snapshot (and ensuring no staked collections, etc) 🟢 Card art 🟢 Tournament/stream coordination 🟢 Social/marketing coordination That’s for each partner and there were plenty we didn’t work out for a variety of reasons — and vice versa. Game-side: 🟢 Live ops 🟢 Tournament scheduling 🟢 Balancing 🟢 Pods 🟢 Economy 🟢 Low card airdrops 🟢 Bug fixes 🟢 SnG soft launch 🟢 WL’d tournaments 🟢 Tech support Games have a tendency to break themselves (look at the new EA NCAA FB game or Mario Kart). Those took weeks to fix critical bugs. Our team’s fixing them in hours. Community/marketing: 🟢 Socials coordination 🟢 Support 🟢 Onboarding / answering millions of the same questions 🟢 Juggling multiple partners’ marketing calendars 🟢 Pivoting for constant dev updates/partner stuff 🟢 A million tiny moving parts Plenty of 16 hour workdays have gone into this and I’m extremely proud of what we’ve built ❤️ Good luck to everyone playing today!!!!
