Nicknamed 'Alligator Alcatraz', the site will hold up to 5,000 migrants starting next month in tents and trailers at an abandoned airfield. State officials say the surrounding swamps, gators, and snakes act as natural barriers. DHS estimates the project will cost $450 million per year, largely covered by FEMA.
