OpenAI is reportedly weighing legal action against Microsoft, accusing its top backer of anticompetitive behavior.
The AI powerhouse may seek a federal antitrust review and even launch a public campaign.
Microsoft invested $1B into OpenAI in 2019 and remains deeply embedded via its Azure cloud.
But tensions have grown as OpenAI expands ties to Google Cloud and distances itself from Microsoft’s influence.
The companies have already faced regulatory pressure and Microsoft gave up its OpenAI board seat last year.
If this split goes public, it could shake the core of Silicon Valley’s most powerful AI alliance.
