Revisiting Walter Isaacson’s book on Elon Musk “None of this is just ‘chance’ or ‘luck,’ it is extremely hard work”

No spoilers but I finished Walter Isaacson’s book on Elon Musk over the weekend, some high level takeaways: - achieving greatness takes large personal sacrifices, pain, & a lot of time - none of this is just ‘chance’ or ‘luck,’ it is extremely hard work - he works in sprints, rapid iteration, testing, shipping products ASAP, gathering feedback, until proper or acceptable execution is achieved (on repeat) - he is obsessive & fast, needs to immediately prove/disprove a hypothesis/idea by getting to work - he constantly proves himself by ‘doing’, not ‘saying he’ll do things’ - rarely he’ll take ‘no’ for an answer when he knows something is solvable - *focus* - building meaningful long term relationships & trusted support systems help keep you in check & open doors - sleep deprivation will make you impulsively/irrationally buy things - he is probably the closest we have to proving ‘genius’ might exist in modern day
