A fleeting moment when the Moon’s shadow crowned the Sun with light, the diamond ring effect blazing as pink solar prominences danced on the edge of darkness, a reminder of how rare and powerful the universe’s performances can be. This was my first total eclipse. To be honest, I had low expectations of how it would feel, but it massively exceeded them. We were high on the side of a mountain in the snow; the silence as the animals stopped, the sudden wave of cold, the sheer speed of it all. It was far more visceral and emotional than I ever could have imagined. Massive thanks to @jasonophoto for driving me up into the Catskills in upstate New York, and then all the way back to JFK through ten hours of traffic.
