These dockside confrontations are part of a wider mobilization — including workers who blockaded military cargo bound for Israel in Piraeus — that culminated in the Aug. 10 “Nationwide Day of Action,” one of the largest pro-Palestine demonstrations in Greek history, with tens of thousands rallying in more than 120 sites. “We can’t have Greece become a playground for IDF soldiers,” one protester said.
