Something just occurred to me: Of the 7 households in my neighborhood located closest to my home, none do their own yardwork. They all hire lawn maintenance companies. I'm the only person I know of in my neighborhood who does all my own yardwork.
I don't remember anyone using these types of yard maintenance services 20 years ago.
