This year, all the vendors were accepting BTC lightning payments with Ark. 🤯 What in the world does that mean? Here’s the TLDR: It means vendors now don’t have to manage the complex channel liquidity that has caused confusion and frustration for many new users onboarding to bitcoin lightning. Ark is a newer Bitcoin Layer‑2 solution designed to provide instant, low‑fee, and self‑custodial Bitcoin payments using something called virtual UTXOs (VTXOs). It’s completely interoperable with the Lightning network. It works in hourly “rounds” where users’ VTXOs are grouped in a transaction tree whose root gets settled on‑chain.
