As our 2nd artist introduction for Sake and a Dream on Sept 12th in NYC, meet Suki-san (@sukizweetsm_eth), an artist whose journey is defined by persistence, passion and refusing to let go of what she loves. From copying her favorite cartoon characters as a kid to secretly stashing manga at a friend’s house after her family tried to throw them away, she never stopped chasing her dream. That persistence led her from publishing in magazines and winning competitions to illustrating novel covers, creating her own comics, and selling her work across Asia. Her style shifts from soft and delicate to bold and edgy, often shaped by the music she listens to, from gentle ballads for serene scenes and hard rock / metal for striking, intense ones. For Sake and a Dream, Suki wanted to give Bobu a cooler edge while keeping his easygoing spirit. In her words, “Sometimes liquor can be the starting point of a dream.” Stepping outside the digital realm, she embraced handmade mediums for the first time, carefully learning new tools and techniques to bring depth, texture, and character to her work. The result is more than her first physical piece. It is proof of the determination that took her from quiet defiance to international recognition and a glimpse of where her art might go next. We're honored to have Suki-san be a part of this groundbreaking show. Previews soon! IKZ! ⛩️🍶
