I wrote a few words about my experience building on @base these past two years, and coined it as a screenshot essay on @zora for posterity (link in next tweet to keep Elon happy) TWO YEARS OF BASE Two years ago in the summer of ‘23, when I first heard rumblings that @coinbase might be launching its own chain, I honestly expected something like BNB — an EVM-compatible but mostly centralized L1. Then I learned they were actually launching an @ethereum L2 with no native token, as part of the @Optimism Superchain, and contributing significant engineering resources to scaling and other challenges for the entire OP network, all open source. That blew me away. (I didn’t know @jessepollak very well yet… if I had, maybe I wouldn’t have been so surprised.) At the time, I’d just started minting content and building on OP mainnet, and needed to decide where to launch my next project — a creator-focused fork of Nouns called The Yellow Collective. Then Base launched with the OG Onchain Summer, and I saw a master class in supporting builders with the two things they need most: funding and distribution. I could see that Jesse, @kabir_base, @davidtsocy, and the rest of the team clearly cared about building an L2 that would foster positive-sum energy and bring the next billion onchain. Jesse has always said: “Build on Base and you will be rewarded,” and that has been true for me. He was one of the first to win a @basedandyellow auction, came on as a guest of my podcast @zerorightsmedia ZEROPOD before anyone knew what it was, and is (almost inhumanly) engaged with my content on X and Farcaster. The same goes for David, @CryptoStatuette, @drewcoffman, @0xAneri, and more — I’ve always felt my contributions were valued, appreciated, and rewarded here. And that’s why I’m still here building and experimenting two years later. 💪 Flash forward to this week, and BETR the native token for the @betrmint mini app on @farcaster_xyz that @netnose and I just started building 3 months ago was added to the inaugural cohort of Base tokens listed for DEX trading in the official Coinbase app. 🤯 In what other world could you build an app with instant distribution on Farcaster + @baseapp, and also have your native token instantly tradable by millions out the gate on CB?
