Whether Meta’s super intelligent efforts will work out is unclear. However, it’s clear that the “winning strategy” for the big 7 in AI (or any other field) is to turn it into a war of attrition. Meta’s annual profit is over $100 billion, and it can afford to burn tens of billions a year without blinking. No startups can keep raising that amount on an annual basis. Make things really expensive and win with the infinite money glitch.
