Praying for the five soldiers wounded at Fort Stewart today. Grateful they are all in stable condition and I wish them a speedy and complete recovery. Thank you to the brave soldiers who immediately tackled the shooter and to the first responders and base personnel who quickly secured the situation.

5 Soldiers shot in active shooter incident

(FORT STEWART, Georgia) – Five Soldiers were shot today in an active shooter incident in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area. All Soldiers were treated on-site and moved to Winn Army Community Hospital for further treatment. There is no active threat to the community.
Law enforcement was dispatched for a possible shooting in the 2nd ABCT complex at 10:56 a.m. The shooter was apprehended at 11:35 a.m.
The installation was locked down at 11:04 a.m. and Fort Stewart lifted the lockdown of the main cantonment area at 12:10 p.m. 2nd ABCT complex is still locked down.
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to treat the wounded Soldiers at 11:09 a.m.
The incident remains under investigation and no additional information will be released until the investigation is complete.

I’m encouraged by President Trump’s actions today to further support Ukraine. As I discussed yesterday on @FaceTheNation, the Administration should look at directing the $5 billion in frozen Russian assets held in the U.S. to Ukraine.

Rep. French Hill (R-AR), chair of the House Financial Services Committee, calls for President Trump to convert seized Russian assets into a trust account that will benefit Ukraine, an idea that has bipartisan support in the Senate.
