Rust is cool. But my biggest experience from @rustconf 2025 was not a new feature or a technical trick. It was meeting some special people, part of the Rust Project itself. For a while, I've been confident (but cautious) about recommending Rust as a career option. I don't want to advise someone based on a bet that might not pay off. But after my last experience and this in-person event, I am "All in" now. Rust is definitely a good choice for your career. This confidence mainly came from meeting the people BEHIND the language. One thing is just to use a language you download on the internet. Another way to meet its creators. For example, I talked with pioneers like Nicholas Matsakis , who has been shaping Rust since 2011 and was one of the key minds behind the groundbreaking borrow checker. I also spoke with Jack Huey, a core leader on the types and compiler teams since 2019, who is guiding the future direction of the language's internals. It's a simple idea, but we often forget: behind every piece of technology, brilliant and passionate people work tirelessly to empower developers, no matter how cold it seems. So, a huge thank you to everyone in the Rust project working behind the scenes. Kudos to Rebecca Rumbul and ALL the team! I was so inspired by our conversations that I interviewed Nicholas and Jack to learn more about their work and vision. I'll be sharing these interviews on my YouTube channel very soon. Stay tuned!
