Been digging more and more into Solana's ICM roadmap Short-term, we're going to start seeing some experimentation around application controlled execution (ACE). Problem - Microstructure getting in the way of app execution (IBRL progress excellent). Solution- Give apps control of their own execution, aka ACE. Timeline - Next few months start seeing early examples w/ Jito's BAM (Drift, Dflow, and Pyth mentioned). BAM will give ACE functionality to large amounts of stake immediately so once these are launched they should give good initial indications on effectiveness. Some thoughts: - Solana developers have proven time and again they move quickly to ensure the chain functions as intended, shift is now from IBRL to microstructure. - Until its up and running, Solana risks seeing project launch on Solana and trade on Hyperliquid (see PUMP). W/ HyperEVM eventually vying for the asset issuance role as well, this gives some urgency to the matter. - Until actually implemented, prop AMMS are partially filling the gap. They are the major reason behind why SOL spreads on Solana are so tight. - Beyond ACE, there's several other upgrades coming to market like Alpenglow, Double Zero, APE, and MCL. These are phased for next 1-3 years. - Read Solana roadmaps, they're very straight forward and give exact problems and solutions the teams are exploring.
