When you don't adopt the privacy technology that exists and is available to you today, you are effectively creating an immutable trail of digital exhaust. The point is that you do not know who might want access to the trail, or what they might do with it. When I say "they," you might think "person," but it's rarely that simple. Nowadays it's most likely not some lady sitting behind a mahogany desk looking through a manila envelope with your file, it's surveillance AI trawling every data set available on the internet until it happens to hit upon whatever matches the criteria it is searching for. You cannot begin to imagine all of the possible attack vectors because you are a human being. AI can draw connections and inferences that you cannot. And that, my friends, is why a free society requires radically eliminating the digital exhaust that is produced by humanity today.
