Achievement unlocked: for the first time ever over 20% of all ZEC are shielded! 20.57% to be exact! This is a huge milestone for Zcash! Onwards and upwards!

The #Zcash community is just amazing and stronger than ever. I'm honestly in awe at all of the activity, and I feel very honored and humbled to have a small part in this movement that I am certain is going to put a dent in the universe!

Remarkable. Just months ago we, a US domiciled nonprofit builder, were subpoenaed by the SEC, without cause, along with others working on Zcash. This resulted in crippling legal bills and stress - taking from builders and reallocating to lawyers. This was a chokepoint in a different form, an attempt to squeeze out innovation through fear and financial distress. If we now have fairness and self-custody, we must also now have access to privacy as it is necessary freedom and human flourishing. And yet that pillar of our American values remains unprotected, and builders prosecuted.

I watched this live and instantly admired @valkenburgh. It’s said that you should never meet your heroes. He’s an exception. I admire him more today than ever. Here’s what we’ve learned since this epic description. What he describes will only work without trust when the sender, recipient and value transmitted cannot be monitored by any government, malfeasant, criminal, business competitor, neighbor or friend. If we are to have free payments on the internet, between free people, they must be private. There is no in-between.

Two problems prevent the widespread adoption of crypto being used as p2p money: 1. Capital gains tax 2. Lack of privacy A de minimis tax exemption below $600 will largely address problem #1. But only one crypto is poised to address problem #2: Zcash
