To attempt to understand the true impact AI has had on our world this year, we traveled across three continents and had dozens of conversations with executives and computer scientists, economists and politicians, artists and investors, teenagers and grieving families.
Our reporting revealed a frantic blitz toward an unknown destination, and the struggle to make sense of it.
“There’s a belief that the world’s GDP is somehow limited at $100 trillion,” Jensen Huang, the head of Nvidia, tells TIME. “AI is going to cause that $100 trillion to become $500 trillion.”
