Honestly insane how many of these tier 1 backed VC companies have the same story:
-cofounders from some prestige background sell VCs on some pie-in-the-sky concept that no one wants
-raise $100m+
-hire random roles like a chief AI officer for a non-AI startup
-have 0 users
-exit via OTC deals becoming a multi-millionaire
-“step back” right before vesting renews
IP protocol made $24 in revenue yesterday.
The pitch has also never made sense to anyone who has actually worked with IP licensing.
Meanwhile founders who know their industry inside and out, aren’t flash in the pan and spent decades in their field get passed over for the next Stanford kid with buzzwords who puts on a show.
I’ve tried to always have my angel checks go to actual experienced operators, with all the pros and cons that go with it.
But it’s so disheartening that even the “top VCs” just seem stuck on this loop of rewarding flash over substance.
How the hell do we advance as an industry, if you throw money at smoke, mirrors and grift?

After 3.5 years building Story from scratch, I’m stepping out of my full-time role. I’ll stay closely involved as a strategic advisor.
While incubating Poseidon, I rekindled my original passion from my DeepMind days: applying AI to frontier industries like science and space. It's time for me to fully pursue this path.
I believe we’re approaching a crucial inflection point in humanity’s arc as an industrial society. Language generation is just the initial wave of a cascade of abundant intelligence across fields like robotics, biopharma, and space that, if successful, will constitute a new Industrial Revolution.
Looking back, building Story has been the most meaningful experience of my life. What began as a whiteboard sketch when I was 22 turned into more than I could have imagined: a network supporting IPs from Balmain to BTS, with millions of transactions and $130M+ in backing from partners like a16z.
Now, Story enters Chapter 2 with SY at the helm, Andrea as our new CPO, and Sandeep as Chief AI Officer. And as I embark on my next venture, I won't be going far, as Story plans to partner and invest.
To our investors, partners, and nearly 100 incredible teammates: thank you for an incredible ride!

So Trump went to Alaska to get a ceasefire.
But after 3 hours, and walking out to do no announcement, he says he wants a “peace deal”
Which is what Putin has pushed for, that would include occupied land.
Trump got gaslit af.
Now Zelenskyy to visit the Oval on Monday (and I’m willing to bet will not get the same red carpet treatment Putin got! 🙄)

Peter Alexander: "What struck me was the looks on the faces of a lot of the American, delegation here. Caroline Leavitt, Steve Witkoff, who came into the room, then left quickly. Leavitt appeared to be a bit stressed out, anxious. Their eyes were wide, almost ashen at times."

Wow when even Fox News can figure out it was bad, you know it went bad!

Fox News Reporter Jacqui Heinrich: The way that it felt in the room was not good. It did not seem like things went well. And it seemed like Putin came in and steamrolled, got right into what he wanted to say and got his photo next to the president and then left

Trump claimed if he didn’t get a ceasefire from Putin he’d walk out right away and do the press conference alone.
Instead, he got tired 3 hours into a 6 hour scheduled meeting, and Putin paraded him out like a tired dog to smile like an idiot while Putin spoke first at US press conference, made up history about Russia, and lied to the press about how he thought this war was “unfortunate” for Trump to wrap up and say “no deal” and scurry back to the White House.
Trump is not a master negotiator.
He is a weak man, who was on a short leash.

White House officials state that the luncheon between the U.S. and Russian delegations has been cancelled, adding that President Trump will immediately return to Washington.

Well we know it’s not the first time, he does speak English, but he normally refuses to speak it in front of the press.
There are many rumors as to why - namely strategic. But, it’s certainly notable that he said something on a public hot mic in English.
It’ll fuel the conspiracy theories of body doubles though 😂

Russian President Putin closed out the press conference by speaking in English for the first time today, saying that the next meeting between himself and U.S. President Trump should be held in Moscow. Appearing to catch Trump off guard, who laughed it off.

He also claimed the war would have never happened under Trump… which is insane, given that it’s currently happening under Trump… 🙄

Putin says that some kind of “agreement” has been reached, but doesn’t give further details.

An incredible study, that may explain much of long covid, shows that the heart conditions (and sudden collapses) were likely covid and asymptomatic cases rather than insane claims of vaccine injury, and how patients presenting without myocarditis still had similar symptoms.
It was so much worse than a flu, and we’re only really just starting to understand the damage it did even among an otherwise healthy population.

🔬New study shows SARS-CoV-2 causes direct damage to heart cell mitochondria - even months after recovery - helping potentially explain Long COVID heart symptoms like chest pain, palpitations & fatigue.
Been waiting to have time to read this paper. Let’s break it down. 🧵
